Why should you run for Northern Lights rather than a well-known charity?

Choosing to run a long-distance race is not a decision you make lightly. But deciding to run such a distance for a charity will make your achievement feel that much more special. Focussing your support on a local charity, such as Northern Lights, will guarantee your efforts will benefit someone locally.

Using a charity space to enter the race means you are giving something back, whilst also achieving important lifetime goals. A charity space will give you extra purpose whilst training, running and overcoming physical and mental challenges. Knowing that you are making a difference adds meaning to your stride.

If you would like to run for a charity at the Chester Half Marathon please consider supporting us and the children we help, children with life limiting conditions who dream of going to Lapland at Christmas time.  Thanks to the invaluable support of our donors we take 20 amazing children to meet Father Christmas each year, they play in deep deep snow and experience the magic of a winter wonderland. This once in a lifetime experience is the touch of sparkle these children need.

We know it makes a difference to their lives…

Here’s what one of the nurses that supported us with a Lapland trip feels about helping Northern Lights;

By the end of the 5 days I was exhausted physically and emotionally. I had supervised/given over 90 injections, well over 100 blood tests, carb counted as many meals and adjusted insulin taking into account the cold, exercise, food and excitement for 5 fantastic children. The other 15 children who also have life-long/life threatening conditions have had the time of their lives thanks to Northern Lights Children’s Charity. Exhausted and emotional but have lots of happy memories and looking forward to a big glass of wine and a full night’s sleep. Thanks to all the people who made this possible for such very deserving children who have gone through so much in their little lives. Xx

If you decide to run for Northern Lights charity, it’s guaranteed that our fundraising team of volunteers will be supporting you throughout your journey. Before, during and after your race you will find our charity there supporting and cheering you along. We will support you with a running vest and put you in touch with other people running for Northern Lights. You’ll be joining a team of people all doing the same thing. By running for the same cause as others, you’ll be connected to a larger community where you can gain support, meet like-minded runners and make new friends.

Are you someone who could help us take more children for the Christmas of their dreams?
